When to Prune Viburnum Alfredo Shrubs

Viburnum Alfredo is native to the northern United States. If you are looking for a plant to put on a show in autumn, consider the viburnum Alfredo with its red-to-purple fall foliage.
  • Characteristics

    • Viburnum Alfredo is a dense, rounded deciduous shrub. It grows to a height of 6 feet and is more dense than other viburnum varieties.

    Technique

    • Viburnum Alfredo should be left as natural-looking as possible. When you make cuts, make them just above a leaf node so the plant will produce new shoots from that point.

    Timing

    • Prune the viburnum Alfredo immediately after blooming. This gives it a chance to recover and regrow, setting new buds.
