How to Reset the Ink Level for an HP D7560 Cartridge

The Hewlett-Packard Photosmart D7560 is a color inkjet printer that uses a black ink cartridge and individual color cartridges for cyan, magenta and yellow ink. When the ink level runs low on any of the cartridges, they can be refilled with ink as an alternative to purchasing new cartridges. The process for refilling each cartridge is the same for the color and black cartridges, except for the color of ink used. The HP D7560 uses HP 564 ink cartridges.
    • 1

Turn the printer on. Open the top cover. The printer cartridges automatically move to the middle. Remove the cartridge to be refilled.

    • 2

Set the cartridge on a flat working space with some paper towels under it to absorb any spilled ink.

    • 3

Place the orange cap that covered the outlet port when the cartridge was new back onto the outlet port. Hold the cap in place with a rubber band. Place a strip of vinyl tape over the outlet port if the orange cap is not available.

    • 4

Fill a syringe with 4 milliliters of the appropriate color of ink.

    • 5

Peel the label off the top of the cartridge to expose the vent hole. The ink is added into the vent hole, which is in the middle of the top of the cartridge.

    • 6

Insert the needle of the syringe into the vent hole. Slowly inject the ink into the ink chamber.

    • 7

Remove the orange cap or vinyl tape from the outlet hole after letting the cartridge sit for one minute to give it time for the ink to flow to the bottom.

    • 8

Replace the cartridge in the printer. Run one to three printhead clean cycles on the D7560 to get the ink flowing.

I have a continuous ink system for my hp D7560 printer. I can refill the ink cartridges, prime them properly, and the ink level still reads depleted and will not allow printing.
