How to Scan Documents Using a Canon MP500

The Canon Pixma MP 5000 is a high-resolution photograph printer that can also be uses as a scanner and copier. With print resolutions of up to 9600 by 2400, the MP 5000 can deliver high-quality prints of photographs. It is also capable of printing two-sided, or duplexed, prints or copies. Once you have the drivers that came with your MP 5000 installed on your computer, you will be able to print from and scan to your computer.

      Open the scan driver software on your computer. When you installed the drivers for the MP 5000, a scanning driver was also loaded. Locate where you saved these drivers and double-click to launch the scanning driver.

      Load a photograph or document onto the platen glass of the MP 5000. Lift up the top cover of the printer and place your photograph or letter-sized paper onto the glass.

      Press the "Scan" button on the MP 5000. This will bring the printer into the scanning mode.

      Press "Scan Image" from the software on your computer. Doing so will send a command to the MP 5000 to scan the image on the platen glass. Once the scanning is complete, the image will appear on your computer screen.
