Swing your back foot toward home plate and pivot on the balls of your feet, with your heels slightly up and both feet pointed toward the pitcher. Your back foot should still be around six inches behind your front foot.

Bend your knees and crouch into an active stance as you pivot your feet. You should be ready to hit a ball from your knees to your chest.

Slide your top hand down the bat as you square your hips toward the pitcher. Your body should be facing the pitcher with your hips slightly angled toward your back foot.

Slide the top hand to the middle of the barrel of the bat and hold the bat between your thumb (on the top of the barrel) and your index finger (folded under the bottom of the barrel). Loosen your grip in your bottom hand at the same time, flexing your knuckles upward while still holding the bottom of the handle.

Find the ball as it comes in toward you and angle the bat in the direction that you would like to bunt the ball.
