How to Set Up a Netgear SC101

The Netgear SC101 is a storage device that connects to a standard network. All computers on the local network can access the SC101 and download and upload files to it. The SC101 supports multiple ATA 133 or ATA 6 hard drives, so you can extend its storage space by adding standard hard drives. Unlike standard network-attached storage, or NAS, devices, the SC101 requires that each computer accessing it has the included proprietary software installed. The software only supports 32-bit versions of Windows.
    • 1

Connect the Netgear SC101 to your router using the included Ethernet cable.

    • 2

Insert the SC101 CD into your computer's disc drive and install the included SCM Utility by following the instructions on your screen. Each computer that will access the SC101 requires the SCM Utility installed.

    • 3

Double-click the "SCM Utility" icon on your desktop.

    • 4

Click "Yes, Check for Updates" and "Next."

    • 5
