How to Spruce Up My Vending Space

Sprucing up your vending space at a market stall, trade show or garage sale is important for attracting customers. According to Market-Stalls UK, careful consideration of how you display and present your products will affect how many sales you make. If you make more sales, then you can make more profit. Spruce up your vending area by following a few simple steps that take advantage of the space. Let your creativity loose by introducing color, fabrics and new signs.
    • 1

Choose a theme based on the products you're selling and keep this in mind when sprucing up your space (see Tips).

    • 2

Rummage at thrift stores, garage sales or craft stores for fabric to place over the table in your vending space or hang on the walls. Cover the table with fabric. Hide legs of the table to give a clean finish to the display.

    • 3

Display loose products in attractive containers. Arrange organic fruit and vegetables in wicker baskets, for example. Place beads in small, transparent drawers so customers can easily pull them open for viewing.

    • 4

Create focal points to add extra dimension to your vending space. Collect a few empty boxes of various sizes. Use shoe boxes, fruit boxes from the supermarket or old tissue boxes, for example--as long as they fit on your display table and can take the weight of your products. Hang items from the front of the table or sides of the stall frame using coat hangers, if you happen to sell clothing.

    • 5

Cover cardboard boxes in fabric or colored tissue paper and place them strategically on your display table, on the floor or on shelves. Add different levels to your space when you place products on top of the boxes. Spread and evenly space two or three across a six by two foot table, for example.

    • 6

Arrange your products using the new levels you've created. Place more expensive products on top of boxes, making them more prominent. Place best-selling items on the boxes to focus your customers' attention.

    • 7

Create a sign to hang above the entrance to your vending space. Write your store name or use a slogan, such as "Cheap Household Goods" if you're selling secondhand items. Use as few words as possible.

    • 8

Purchase a large sheet of strong cardboard, paint, colored pencils, glitter tape, stamps or stickers from a craft store to make the sign. Use your creativity to make a big sign people can read from at least 15 to 20 feet away. Put up the sign to attract customers from other vendors or shops.

    • 9

Cut small, even pieces of cardboard into squares or rectangles. Use the decorating pens or stickers mentioned in Step 8 to create labels for your products. Include he product name and price. Keep the writing clear and simple to avoid confusing customers. Place the labels next to the products.
