How to Stop Metal Detectors

Modern-day treasure hunters will not be found with an eye-patch and sword in hand. Instead, metal detectors are their weapon of choice. By either creating an oscillating field or sending electromagnetic pulses into the ground metal detectors can tell if there is a metal item buried. A regular beep is emitted that becomes constant when a metal item is detected. When this happen you need to turn your detector off and start digging.

Listen for a change in tone while sweeping the detector back and forth over the ground.

Locate the "Off" dial when you hear the tone become constant. This means you have found metal.

Turn the dial towards the "Off" sign, usually counter-clockwise, until it clicks and the tone stops.
