How to Sync a Wireless Podcast

Podcasts are Internet audio broadcasts. They are generally used for the dissemination of information or for entertainment. Podcasts can come in many forms: Some give news, some discuss issues in the mold of a talk show and others may simply be audio broadcasts of television programs. Syncing your wireless device, whether a computer or cell, is essential in a wireless transfer.

  Install a program capable of accessing and downloading podcasts. While many are available, iTunes may be the most well-known and easiest to use. It can be found at http://www.apple.com/itunes. Download the program and follow the installation instructions. If you already have iTunes, it is advised that you make sure you have the most recent version.

  After the installation is complete, find the shortcut for iTunes; this can be found in the "Start" menu or on your desktop. Click on the shortcut in order to open the program.

  Enable the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth function on your player. At this point, locate the device's found connections and sync to the computer. Once a connection is established, you will need to have the application on the phone open and often times a menu will automatically show options for operations. If iTunes is already active, options for syncing will follow.

  Open iTunes, look to the menu bar on the left side of the screen. The top section will be labeled "Library." Find the text etitled "Podcasts" and click on it. This will transfer you to the Podcasts screen. Your device will be found. Every version of phone has different syncing options, even between varying iPhone generations. The first generation of iPhones do not support the wireless sync option and you must use a USB connection.

  On the "Podcasts" screen, look to the bottom-left in order to find the text entitled "Podcast Directory." Click on the arrow to the right of the text. This will transfer you to the Podcast section of the iTunes Store.

  In this section, browse around to find the podcasts you wish to download. Note that most are free; if they are not, then they will be labeled with a price. In order to download a podcast, click on the corresponding "Get Episode" button. This will be under the "Price" column on any Podcast link.

  Repeat step 3, in order to return to the Podcast screen. The podcasts you have downloaded will be listed there.

  Double-click on the applicable podcast in order to play it.
