How to Troubleshoot a Lenovo T61

While Lenovo laptops are generally reliable, Lenovo users are not immune from the hardware problems that eventually affect all computer users. Although a large number of companies offer laptop diagnostic and repair services, many users prefer to avoid the added cost and downtime that come with having a laptop professionally serviced. Fortunately, Lenovo provides powerful diagnostic software for its laptops, which takes the guesswork out of troubleshooting laptop problems and allows users to pinpoint problems on their own.

      Shut down the laptop.

      Remove any disks from the laptop.

      Turn on the computer and immediately press the blue "ThinkVantage" button.

      Choose "Diagnose Hardware" from the menu now displayed on the screen.

      Choose "Diagnostics" from the PC Doctor main menu and then select "Run Normal Test." A full battery of tests will be performed on the laptop.
