How to Troubleshoot a Socket Error 11004 Email

Socket Error 11004 typically occurs when you have a corrupt file within your Internet options. Error 11004 slows down your system and does not allow you to send or receive emails. You can use the built-in "System File Checker Tool" to fix this problem. Note that you will need to have administrative rights to access this utility.

      Click "Start" and type "cmd" in the search window. Right-click the icon that appears in the search results list and select "Run as administrator" from the drop-down menu. This will launch a "Command Prompt" with administrator privileges.

      Type, without quotes, "sfc /scannow" at the prompt and hit "Enter."

      Wait for the "System File Checker Tool" to locate and fix the corrupt file that is causing "Socket Error 11004." Follow on-screen prompts to restart your computer.
