How to Use an Apple Computer to Design Paint Labels

Paint labels can be created using a design program installed in an Apple computer. Apple computers, also known as Macs, are commonly used for graphic design projects because of the vast amount of memory storage that is available to save large program and image files. Apple computers also permit many application screens to be open at once without slowing down the operating system (OS) like personal computer's (PC) does.

Start the design program to create the paint labels. Move the mouse pointer over the bottom of the program screen to expose the "Program Dock." The "Program Dock" has different program icon shortcuts that permit the user to launch a program application. Click on the design program application icon in the dock to launch it.

Create a new design project by selecting "File," then "New Project" from the program's toolbar menu. Select the project size specifications from the menu that appears, and click "OK." A new blank canvas will appear in the workspace.

Use the tools in the program toolbox to create the paint label design. Select the "Shape" tool to create circles, squares or custom shapes. Select the "Text" tool, which is represented by a bold "T," to type the name of the paint product or company. Each shape or text area will be created as a new layer in the "Layers" palette in the program window.

Choose the shape or text layer to make any adjustments by clicking on it. Erase any unwanted lines in the project by selecting the "Eraser" tool, indicated by a small rectangle, from the toolbox. Add color to each shape or type face by using the "Paint Bucket" tool in the toolbox, and selecting a color from the "Color" palette.

Place the "Paint Bucket" pointer over the desired shape or text, then click on it to add color. Text can also be highlighted with the cursor, and be colored in by clicking on the "Text Color" option, indicated by an "A" with a bold line under it, in the toolbar menu.

Save the paint label design by selecting "File," then "Save Project" from the toolbar menu at the top of the program screen. Close the project by clicking on "File," then "Close Project," also in the toolbar menu. This will keep the project from being opened when the program is re-launched, preventing others from altering the paint label design. Quit the program by selecting the program name on the toolbar menu, then choosing "Quit (Program Name)."
