Radeon Xpress 200M Specs

    • The ATI Radeon Xpress 200M is a chipset for AMD processor-based notebook computers. It integrates a range of computing features, including graphics, audio, memory management and power management. The 200M chipset is also extremely flexible, supporting not only multiple processors but also multiple different graphics APIs and even many different operating systems.

    CPU Compatibility

    • The Radeon Xpress 200M accepts a wide array of AMD processors, including both mobile-oriented Turions, low-end Semprons and Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 FX chips. It supports both 800 megahertz and one gigahertz AMD HyperTransport speeds.

    Memory Support

    • DDR and GDDR memory modules are both compatible with the Xpress 200M chipset. It supports SDRAM modules with capacities ranging from 64 to 256 megabytes and also includes AMD's HyperMemory technology, which allows the sharing of 128 megabytes of memory between the system and the graphics processor.

    Graphics Processing

    • A Radeon X300 core comes integrated into the 200M chipset. This processor supports an extremely high resolution of 2536 pixels square with up to 32-bit color depth. It offers both 3D and 2D acceleration with support for multiple displays, OpenGL and Microsoft DirectX.

    Multimedia Functionality

    • An AC '97 audio controller, which supports as many as eight channels of audio output, is a part of the 200M chipset. The chipset also includes support for video decoding, as well as for Macrovision copy production and DVD copy protection.

    Supported Connections

    • With support for up to eight USB 2.0 interfaces, the ATI Express 200M chipset allows computers that use it to be very versatile. It is also designed to support up to seven slots that are compliant with version 2.3 of the PCI standard. Its video system can support displays connected over VGA, DVI or even analog television connections. Finally, it can work directly with a computer's power system to enable low power consumption for better battery life or lower heat production.
