HughesNet provides high-speed Internet accesses via satellite for people living in remote areas without access to other high-speed Internet options. Available throughout the United States, HughesNet customers can access the Internet using signals beamed between a satellite and a dish connected to their homes. Compatible with both Windows and Mac computers, HughesNet provides a dedicated Internet connection without the need for dial-up and without tying up your phone line.

  Ensure your computer meets HughesNet's minimal requirements. Computers utilizing Microsoft operating systems must run Windows 2000 or higher. Macintosh users must run Mac OS 10.1 or higher. In addition, all computers utilizing HughesNet need 10/100 Ethernet capabilities.

  Contact HughesNet for plan options and pricing. Accomplish this online at www.hughesnet.com, or by contacting customer service at 1-888-408-3137. Once you select and purchase a plan, a certified HughesNet installer will come out and connect a satellite modem to your computer and attach a satellite dish to your home. The installer then will link the modem to the dish. All wiring (up to 125 feet), the satellite dish, the satellite modem and a grounding block are included as part of the standard installation package. Addition options, such as router configuration, may be offered by some certified installers for an additional fee.

  Open your Web browser and surf as you would with any other high-speed Internet provider. The satellite dish sends and receives all e-mail, webpage and other related requests over the Internet and delivers them to your computer through the connected satellite modem.
