How to Use a Laserjet 1200

HP Laserjet 1200 series printers are simple desktop printers with a capability of printing 15 pages per minute. When you buy this printer, you have to learn how to use it. It is very easy to use once you set it up and install the hardware as well as software needed by the device.
    • 1

Open the toner door by pulling the sides of the door forward, to start setting up the printer. When you hear the door locking, leave it open.

    • 2

Hold the left side panel and pull it out to remove.

    • 3

Connect to the printer the USB or parallel cable that came along with the packaging. Do not connect the other end to the computer at this point.

    • 4

Reattach the left side panel that you had disassembled. Simply insert the panel tabs behind the front panel's edge and swing it shut.

    • 5

Take out the toner cartridge from the plastic packaging and remove the tape. Just pull it out completely to break the tab.

    • 6

Insert the toner cartridge into the printer. The cartridge should snap into place.

    • 7

      Close the toner door.

    • 8

Install the trays of the printer. First, slide the complete tray assembly down until it fits securely in the trays compartment (the printer media input trays should be taped together at this point). Then, remove the tape from the input trays and lift off the top tray. Slide the media guides out for accommodating the media. The media goes on this input tray. Connect the power cord after installing the trays and power the printer on.

    • 9

Wait for the printer's light to flash. Press the "Go" button.

    • 10

Wait for a configuration page to print out within 10 seconds. This is your printer's test page.

    • 11

Install the software for the printer on your computer. You get all the required drivers on a CD along with the printer. Insert this CD into the computer's optical drive and select "Software Installation" from the "Auto run" screen. Follow the onscreen instructions and click "Finish" to complete set up.

    • 12

Connect the cable to the computer after installation. Reboot your computer.

    • 13

Start printing after the computer reboots. To print a picture or a document, open the particular file, and press "Ctrl" and "P." Another option is to go to "File" and "Print." The printer will then print the selected page.
