How to View Different Cable Channels in Your Rooms

Having a separate cable box in each room of your house allows each television to individually access your cable provider's stations. Splitting the main cable feed to each separate television is a short-term solution, but requires lots of cable and may be prohibited by your cable service provider. Separate Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) will also allow each room to watch and record any programming available from your service provider. Make sure that each room you are adding cable to has a jack for hooking up cable.

Sign up for the cable offer that best suits your needs. Keep in mind that new cable boxes are usually delivered the next day. Schedule the delivery for a time that you will be home to accept the cable boxes from the delivery person. Install the cable boxes by connecting the coaxial cable to both the cable jack and the back of the set top box. Connect the VGA (or HDMI, depending on the model) wires running from the rear of the cable box to the television.

Connect the box's electrical cord to the nearest power supply. Press the cable box's power button and turn the television on. Change the television's input to that of the audio/video input port you connected the cable box to. Wait for the cable box to boot and check to ensure all the channels are available. Repeat the installation process for each room's new cable box.
