Gone are the days when families lived within a small geographical area. Nowadays, families are often separated by great distances. Living several states away from loved ones doesn't mean you can't still be close to them, though. A care package is a thoughtful idea to cheer the day of loved ones when you can't be near them. When it's time to send something special to grandma, the options are plentiful.
Baked Goods

While grandmothers are famous for baking for their loved ones, they also like to receive baked goods as well. Any grandmother will be thrilled to receive their granddaughter's first attempt at making no-bake cookies, fudge or other tasty treats. Be sure to wrap them well so they don't get stale and package them securely so they're not damaged in transit.
Pictures, Cards, Artwork and Letters

Photographs of the family will make grandma's day. She can never wait to see how much the kids have grown. Greeting cards and letters from the grandkids will also earn a special place in her heart, and artwork is sure to earn a place of honor on her refrigerator. Give the kids free rein and allow them to put plenty of personal touches in the care package to grandma.
Personal DVDs
-
A video of the kids' latest exploits is a way to make grandma feel as if the miles have melted away. Be sure to take plenty of video at the next birthday party, picnic or holiday celebration. Transfer it onto a DVD and send it in the care package for grandma to watch. She'll feel as if she were there to enjoy the day herself and she can show it off to her friends.
Personalized Calendar
-
With personal computers and digital cameras, it's easy to make a personalized calendar with your own photographs. Make a calendar with candid pictures of mom, dad and the kids, and send it to grandma to enjoy. You can even highlight the date of your next visit to her house or her upcoming visit to you.
Comfort Items

It's always nice to include items that allow grandma to pamper herself. Bath salts, bubble bath, lotion, fuzzy socks, scented candles and packets of soothing flavored tea are all welcome ideas. Encourage your grandma who has done so much for others to kick back, relax and pamper herself for a change.
