Installation Instructions for Kensington Keyboard Drawers

Kensington keyboard drawers position your computer keyboard at the height you want, provide a clear path for keyboard cords and save desk space by sliding under the table top on full-extension, ball-bearing drawer guides. Installing the drawers is a matter of assembling the hardware and attaching the brackets under the table top. Use a screwdriver to assemble the drawer and a variable speed drill to install the brackets.

Attach the slides to the sides of the keyboard shelf with the provided ¼ -inch sheet-metal screws. Use one screw in each hole in the hardware. Be sure to use the screws with the small, flat heads to prevent them binding in the drawer guide when it extends. Install your screws with a screwdriver instead of a drill to prevent stripping.

Attach the mounting brackets using provided ¼-inch spacers and 5/8-inch countersunk machine screws. Select the position front to back that suits your installation, and choose a height setting from the three possible. It is easier to set the height while the drawer is loose, rather than adjusting while the drawer is under the table top and must be worked on overhead.

Position the keyboard drawer, with attached mounting brackets centered in the work space, on the underside of the work top, flush with the front edge of the work top. Position the brackets flush against the bottom of the work top. Mark the screw holes in the brackets. Although the provided screws are self tapping, it is easier to install them with a pilot hole pre-drilled. Drill a shallow pilot hole in each marked spot with a 1/8-inch bit.

Reposition the drawer with the brackets aligned to the pilot holes in the underside of the work top. Drive one screw into each hole to complete the installation.
