Turn on your HP 6310 Officejet printer by pressing the "Power" button on top of the device. When it is powered on, gently lift the cartridge door by pulling up on the lift handle. When it is open, the cartridge carriage will slide out from the inside of the printer into view.

When the carriage has stopped moving, gently press down on the ink cartridge to release it from the holder. It will pop up slightly, and you will be able to grab it with your fingers and lift it out of the printer. The color ink cartridge will be on the left side while the black ink cartridge is located on the right side. Remove the cartridge you want to replace.

Take the replacement ink cartridge from the packaging it came in. Remove the protective plastic covering from the new ink cartridge. Grasp it with your fingers and gently place it into the correct slot inside of the ink carriage. Press it down until you hear a click to indicate it is locked into place.

Close the cartridge door and the carriage will shift back into the printing position. Insert a blank sheet of paper into the paper tray. Press the "OK" button on the control panel of the HP 6310 to accept the new ink cartridges. Press the "OK" button again, and the printer will print a test page to ensure the cartridges are installed correctly. If the test page looks correct, discard the page and use the printer as normal.
