Instructions for a Vicks Digital Thermometer

When it comes to health, accuracy and speed are most important in determining if something is wrong. The Vicks Digital Thermometer provides an accurate reading in just 30 seconds. It is easy to use and store. The Vicks Digital Thermometer can be used for oral, rectal or underarm temperature measurements for babies, children and adults. Its accurate and reliable reading is especially important when taking babies' temperature before fidgeting and crying ensues.
  • Using Orally

      Turn on the thermometer by pressing the "On/Off" button. You will hear a beep, followed by a 2 second test. When the display shows "---," the thermometer is ready to use.

      Place a disposable probe cover on the tip of the thermometer. They come with it.

      Place the tip of the thermometer under the tongue to ensure an accurate reading.

      Remove thermometer after hearing 10 beep signals and when the "F" sign stops flashing.

      Read the thermometer and repeat if necessary.

      Press the "On/Off" button to turn off the thermometer. Wash thermometer after each use and throw out the probe cover. The Vicks Digital Thermometer is waterproof and can be cleaned thoroughly with soap and water. It automatically turns off when not in use to extend battery life. The thermometer also recalls the last taken temperature even after it is turned off.

    Using Under the Arm

      Wipe underarm with a towel.

      Turn on the thermometer using the "On/Off" button and wait 2 seconds until the "---" display shows, indicating the thermometer is ready for use.

      Place the tip of the thermometer's probe under the arm, making sure that the tip is touching the skin. Press the arm against the body, or if taking a child's temperature, hug the child so arms are close to the body.

      Wait until 10 beep signals sound and the "F" sign stops flashing. Remove the thermometer and read the temperature.

      Turn off the thermometer using the "On/Off" button. Wipe thermometer clean with a paper towel or wash with soap and water.

    Rectal Use

      Use the provided probe cover to cover the thermometer's tip. Lubricate its tip with a water-soluble jelly but not petroleum jelly such as Vaseline.

      Lay the adult or child on his or her side. Lay the baby on his or her stomach with legs hanging down. Use a changing table or bed to aid in this.

      Turn on the thermometer using the "On/Off" button and wait 2 seconds until the "---" display shows, indicating the thermometer is ready for use.

      Insert the tip of the Vicks Digital Thermometer into the rectum, but no more than half an inch.

      Wait until the thermometer beeps 10 times and the "F" sign stops flashing to read the temperature. Turn off thermometer using the "On/Off" button. Throw away the probe cover and wash the thermometer with soap and water. Note that when taking temperature using this method, it will be one degree lower than temperature taken orally.
