Place the silver start tripper onto the edge of the clock. Push it against the clock and tighten the screw clockwise by hand. This is the "On" tripper to start the water heater. Line it up with the time on the clock to start the water heater cycle. Repeat this process to put the gold "Off" tripper on the clock for the ending time of the cycle.

Pull the clock dial toward you and turn the pointer to the current time of day. Close the cover over the timer. There is an audible click when the latch engages.
- 4
Suspend automatic timer operation by opening the cover, turning the tripper screws counterclockwise and removing them. Slide the manual lever on the left side to the "On" position. Slide the lever to the "Off" position to turn the water heater off manually.

Intermatic Water Heater Timer Instructions
Intermatic manufactures water heater timers to schedule the water heater functions. A timer installed near the water heater can control the time when a water heater starts and stops on a daily basis. Families who are not home during the day do not need hot water available during the day. Setting a timer to turn on an hour before occupants arrive home and turn off after everyone leaves the next day saves electricity because you don't have to heat water 24 hours a day.
