Men's 10th Anniversary Gifts

  Just as couples celebrate 25 years of marriage with silver and 50 years of marriage with gold, 10 years of marriage has its own metal, gemstone and flower. If you don't want to take the traditional path when purchasing your husband's gift, you can follow more modern traditions or choose a romantic theme.

Tin

• Tin is the traditional metal for a 10th anniversary celebration. Place a picture of the two of you in a tin frame or purchase a piece of artwork made out of tin. If your husband likes to cook, buy him tin-lined copper pans. A creative gift idea is to construct the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz out of tin cans. You also can take a non-literal approach to the tin theme by giving movies with the word "tin" in the title, such as "Tin Cup", "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" or "Pushing Tin."

Diamonds

• If your budget is large enough, diamonds are a traditional gift for a 10th wedding anniversary. Your husband might like a diamond encrusted watch or diamond cuff links. If your husband has a pierced ear or two, you can give him diamond stud earrings. While not all men are fond of jewelry, some may enjoy chains, medallions, rings or bracelets adorned with diamonds. You can put a different twist on the diamond tradition by giving your husband a Neil Diamond CD.

Aluminum

• Aluminum has taken the place of tin as a modern 10th anniversary gift custom. Anniversary gifts can include mirrors, picture frames, key chains and artwork. If your husband enjoys playing baseball, give him an aluminum bat. For a more whimsical gift, buy your husband his favorite beer or soda in cans. If you want to follow the aluminum tradition but can't think of an aluminum gift that he'd like, buy him a present and wrap it in aluminum foil.

• Give a gift that incorporates the number 10. This can include surprising your husband with a 10-day vacation to an exotic or tropical location. Some smaller less expensive gifts include 10 golf balls, 10 shot glasses or 10 packets of seeds if he likes to garden. If money is an issue, spend 10 hours with him in bed.
