Physical Description
-
Sinningia tubiflora is a plant that produces 3-inch long white flowers that grow from a long stem. These flowers are pollinated by sphinx moths and emit a sweet fragrance that smells faintly of citrus.
Natural Habitat
-
Sinningia tubiflora is native only to Uruguay and Argentina in South America. This plant has been brought to other countries, but because of climate differences, other locations often yield poor growth results.
Site Requirements
-
Sinningia tubiflora is very drought-tolerant, as long as it is planted in a site that is cool and dry. This plant is dormant during the winter but must be planted in full sunlight in the spring and summer in order to flower. The tubers produced by the plant can be damaged if a severe freeze occurs during the winter months.
