Nikon D80 Compatible Speedlights

    • Nikon's 10.2-megapixel D80 digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera features Nikon's proprietary i-TTL flash metering system. When used with a compatible speedlight, the D80's i-TTL metering system provides complete control over flash exposure. Nikon and other manufacturers make a number of flash units that can function with the D80, but i-TTL compatible flash units provide the most exposure control and lighting options.

    Nikon SB-600 AF

    • The Nikon SB-600 AF is fully compatible with the Nikon D80 i-TTL metering system. The SB-600 rotates 270 degrees and tilts up 90 degrees. The flash features auto zoom capability with a range that covers 24 mm to 85 mm. With an optional adapter, the flash extends its coverage range to 14 mm. The SB-600 can work on the D80's hotshoe mount or wirelessly. The SB-600 has a guide number of 98 feet at ISO 100 when used in the 35 mm zoom position. With standard Ni-Cd (nickel-cadmium) batteries, the flash has a recycle time of 2.9 seconds. The Nikon SB-600 measures 2.7 inches wide, 4.9 inches high and 3.5 inches deep. The unit weighs 10.6 oz., without the battery.

    Nikon SB-800 AF

    • The Nikon SB-800 AF speedlight operates as a standalone flash unit, a wireless speedlight commander or a wireless remote unit. The unit has fully compatible operation with the Nikon D80 and its creative lighting system. The SB-800 controls up to three flash groups. The SB-800 tilts down seven degrees and tilts up 90 degrees. The SB-800 has a guide number of 125 feet at ISO 100 when used in the 35 mm zoom head position. The flash head also rotates horizontally 180 degrees to the left and right. When used with Ni-Cd batteries, the unit has a recycle time of 2.7 seconds. The SB-800 has two optional power supplies--the SD-7 battery pack and the SD-8A high performance battery pack. The SB-800 features exposure compensation settings of -3.0 exposure value (EV) to +3.0 EV in 1/3-step increments. The Nikon SB-800 measures 2.8 inches wide, 5.0 inches high and 3.6 inches deep. The unit weighs 12.0 oz., without batteries.

    Nikon SB-R200

    • The wireless Nikon SB-R200 is fully functional with the D80's i-TTL metering system. The SB-R200 works only in remote mode, not commander mode. The unit has a guide number of 33 feet at ISO 100 to 46 feet at ISO 200. The SB-R200 has 24 mm lens coverage and a coverage field of 60 degrees vertically and 78 degrees horizontally. The SB-R200 has a minimum recycle time of 6.7 seconds and uses one 3V lithium battery instead of typical AA batteries. The unit measures 3.1 inches wide, 3.0 inches high and 2.2 inches deep.
