A clean office creates a good first impression for customers and clients, and provides a comfortable work environment for employees. Getting the office clean and keeping it clean is best done with the aid of a list. An office cleaning list is helpful in letting everyone know what needs to be done, so anyone can help pitch in to get the job done.
Reception Area
-
Start cleaning in the the reception area or waiting room. Straighten up the area by making sure all chairs and tables are in their proper places. Pick up and reorganize any magazines and other items in the room to keep it looking tidy. Empty all garbage cans; dust tables, lamp shades, countertops and window sills. Vacuum the area, and clean any windows.
Back Office
-
Next, clean the back office or work areas of employers and employees. Empty all garbage cans; dust desks, countertops, windowsills and lamp shades. Vacuum the entire area, and clean windows and/or mirrors. Tidy up the work stations for each person, putting items back in their proper place, and removing clutter.
Bathrooms
-
Clean all bathrooms used by employers, employees and customers. Wipe down the sink and vanity top; use window cleaner to clean the mirror. Clean the toilet bowl. Sweep and mop the floors at least every other day. Each day, check bathroom supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper, and replace as needed. Take out the garbage.
Kitchen/Break Room
-
The kitchen and/or break room often gets overlooked when cleaning, but it is important to keep it clean and uncluttered. Wash all dishes, and then clean the sink. Wipe down the counter and table tops. Throw out any leftover food sitting out or that has been left in the refrigerator for over a week. Take out the garbage, and check on supplies such as paper towels, hand and dish soap, and refill as necessary.
Front Entrance
-
Keeping the front entrance to the office clean and hazard-free is one final, but important, step when cleaning. Sweep the entranceway to remove all dirt, and shake out the welcome mat. Clean off the front door by wiping around the door handle and cleaning any glass to remove fingerprints and smudges. Pick up any garbage.
