Examine the patch of weeds and surrounding soil to ensure that there are no desirable plants in the area before overwatering your weeds. Desirable plants, such as lawn grass, that weeds grow among will also be overwatered if you attempt to kill weeds in this way.

Turn on a faucet to which you have attached a garden hose and allow the water to run. Apply well over the equivalent of 1 inch of rainfall per inch of soil, using a rain gauge to check that you have overwatered the area.
- 3
Repeat this process daily. Typically, plants require only 1 inch of rainfall or the equivalent amount of water every 7 to 10 days. By applying more than this amount, you will saturate the soil and drown the weeds.

How to Overwater Weed Plants
A weed is any plant that you do not want growing in a certain area. This may include universally despised plants such as crabgrass or even normally desirable plants such as grass in a flower bed or lamb's ear in your lawn. You can control weeds in several ways. One method is to create a hostile environment in which a weed cannot grow. Overwatering weeds saturates the soil and causes the weeds to slowly drown.
