Financial advisors, also known as financial analysts, offer guidance to clients to make smart investment decisions. According to the "Occupational Outlook Handbook," published by the U.S. Department of Labor, financial advisors have different roles. A personal financial advisor helps clients them with taxes, investment strategies and long-term financial goals. A business financial analyst works with banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions aiding them with price analysis, sales and costs. No matter what the area of specialization is, financial advisors require a business-focused academic degree. Many online universities offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in finance to interested individuals.
