Original Birthday Ideas for Your Girlfriend

  • Picnic

    • Instead of taking her to a formal dinner at a stuffy restaurant, put together a picnic dinner for the two of you. Fill a basket with plates, napkins, silverware and wine or Champagne glasses. Next, place a chilled bottle of Champagne or a bottle of wine in the basket. Make her favorite dinner and place it in the picnic basket, or order takeout from one of her favorite restaurants. A few days before her birthday, find a spot that has enough lighting for you two to enjoy the picnic outside for dinner. This could be a park or even your back yard.

    Shopping

    • For a girlfriend who loves shopping and fashion, consider taking her on a shopping trip for her birthday. Head out to a local mall or shopping center and spend the day going in all of her favorite stores, helping her choose items of clothing that you like and patiently waiting while she tries them on. Not only can this outing be a birthday celebration, you can also purchase a couple items for her birthday gift. Cap the day off with dinner at a nearby restaurant.

    Helicopter Ride

    • Many large metropolitan areas have local businesses that offer helicopter rides over the city. Take her on a helicopter ride at sunset so that the two of you can watch the sun setting and see your city's skyline from above. Bring some Champagne on board and toast her birthday while you fly over the city. Once the exhilarating ride is over, take her to dinner or out for drinks to cap off the evening.

    Boat Ride

    • Take her on a boat ride for her birthday. If you live near the ocean or another large body of water, rent a boat for the day and ride around on the water laying in the sun, swimming and enjoying her birthday. You can also take her on a dinner cruise around your local harbor or other waterway. Depending on the dinner cruise business you choose to work with, the cruise might be private, or there could be other couples along for the ride. Either way, eating dinner on the water will be a birthday she won't forget.
