Starting flowers from seeds does not have to be a difficult process. Gardeners start a variety of flowers destined for their gardens as seeds in containers. Because so many flowers are annuals and grow quickly, it's usually more practical to start them from seeds than waiting to buy flowers in bloom.
Morning Glory

Morning glory flowers come in variety of colors, from the classic purple shade to other colors such as blue, red, white and pink, as well as some multicolored varieties. The simple process of starting morning glories from seeds requires nicking the seeds, soaking them, then planting them in 1/4-inch-deep soil. The flowers quickly grow and climb on trellises and other structures and require little maintenance beyond occasional watering and fertilizing.
Zinnia

Zinnia flowers can be started from seeds either indoors or outside in the garden. They require only a light cover of soil to start their speedy growing process. Zinnias also come in a variety of colors -- shades of yellow, pink, red, white or other variations, The plants can range from 1 foot to more than 3 feet tall.

Sweet pea flowers come in more than 1,000 varieties that include both annual and perennial types in a wide range of colors. They are a popular flower to start from seed due to their hardiness and ability to thrive. Sweet pea flowers can even spread so much as to crowd out the other flowers in the garden.
Some varieties of sweet pea seeds can be planted as wildflowers; other seeds require a soil depth of 1 to 1 1/2 inches.
Cosmos

Originally from Mexico and Central America, cosmos flowers can easily be grown from seeds in below-average soil conditions. They also tolerate dryness well. Cosmos seeds, which are are larger than most, yield plants that grow quite large, with some plants reaching 4 to 5 feet in height.
Marigold

Marigolds are another type of flower easy to grow from seeds. Available in a multitude of varieties, they are noted for their ability to ward off insects from the garden. Gardeners start marigolds from seeds in containers or in their gardens. Marigold seeds germinate quickly.
