  • NYSTAR Small Business Grants

    • The New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR) offers grants to small businesses from the Small Business Technology Investment Fund. High-Tech companies in the early stage of their development are eligible. Preference is given to companies with innovative technology products and services. NYSTAR also offers technical and managerial services and referrals to help small businesses grow.

    Green Building Construction Tax Credits

    • Small businesses in Greene County qualify for grants in the form of tax credits for constructing green buildings and installing environmentally friendly equipment. Some of the projects that qualify for tax credits include the construction of entirely green buildings, solar panel implementation, and air-conditioning systems that use non-ozone depleting refrigerant.

    Greene County Microenterprise Assistance Program Grants

    • Greene County offers grants of up to $25,000 to microenterprise businesses. The county defines a microenterprise business as having five or fewer employees. To qualify businesses must have matching funds and create jobs. The county also recommends completion of a small-business training course. Applicants must complete a Greene County Master Loan Application.

    Main Street Revitalization Program Grants

    • Small businesses located along Main Streets in Greene County may be eligible for local grants for building improvements. The matching grants cover 50 percent of project costs with a maximum grant amount of $7,500. The goal of the program is to spur investment and job growth by restoring Main Streets as hubs of commerce.

    Residential Solar Installation Tax Credits

    • Business owners in Greene County who operate from their residence may qualify for grants in the form of a tax exemption for the purchase of solar-energy equipment. Residential systems that use solar energy to provide electricity, heating, cooling and hot water qualify for the New York State sales-tax exemption. Solar systems intended for recreational applications or heating swimming pools are not eligible.
