Special Ways to Propose

  • Over the Intercom

    • When you and your partner are going shopping, make the trip more exciting with a wedding proposal via intercom. While your partner is searching the aisles, excuse yourself to set up the proposal with one of the managers. Then return to your partner and wait for the announcement to come on for everyone to hear. Be careful; this method may not work for everybody, especially those who are not sure their partners will say yes. Little hints that your significant other is anxious or even impatient for you to pop the question will improve the odds of this method's success. Also, make sure your partner would not prefer a more private proposal when continuing with this one.

    On a Scavenger Hunt

    • Leave notes that lead from one place to the next, perhaps places that have significant meaning in your relationship. This can be a tour all over the city or in a smaller place, such as a home. Keeping your partner moving and looking for more hints builds up the anticipation of the final moment. At the end of the hunt, be waiting for your partner with candles, flowers and a ring in hand.

    In a Movie Theater

    • Call your local theater to ask if you can fit in a proposal as one of the advertisements right before the movie begins; some movie theaters have ad spaces for sale before the show. If you want this to be a loud, public moment, choose a movie on its opening night. If you want a more private moment between you and your sweetheart, choose a smaller theater and a movie that will be closer to empty.

    In an Airplane

    • It could happen when you are about to take off, when you are in the air or when you have just landed. However, asking for your partner's hand in marriage over the intercom right after the plane has landed and everyone is excited to continue on to their destinations makes the final announcements from the crew much more significant. You will probably also end up with applause from the entire cabin.
