    • Introduced in 1985, the Kawasaki ZL900 Eliminator is a cruiser with the feel of a drag-racing bike. The ZL900 was equipped with an inline four-cylinder engine similar to the one used in another popular Kawasaki product, the 1984 ZX900 Ninja. The ZL900 was only produced for two years, but the Eliminator name continued to live on until 2009, encompassing a wide range of cruiser models in a number of engine displacement ranges, from an entry-level 125 cc to a 1,000 cc cruiser.

    Engine

    • The 1985 Kawasaki ZL900 Eliminator sports a 908 cc, four-stroke, straight-four engine with a double overhead cam valve-train. This liquid-cooled engine is equipped with four Keihin 32 mm carburetors and features forced wet sump lubrication. There are four valves to each cylinder, for a total of 16 valves. The cylinder bore in this engine measures 72.5 mm and has a 55 mm stroke. The compression ratio on this engine is 11:1. The ZL900 engine is capable of producing 105 horsepower at 9,500 RPM and generates 62.9 ft.-lbs. of torque at 8,000 RPM. This engine uses a transistorized electronic ignition and has an electric starter.

    Transmission and Drive

    • The 1985 Kawasaki ZL900 Eliminator is equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and uses a constant mesh return shift clutch. Primary drive power is delivered to the rear wheel through a cardan shaft drive.
