"Stronghold: Crusader" is the second installment if the "Stronghold" series of strategy games by Firefly Studios. The game takes place during the Middle Ages and was released in 2002 for the computer platform. Although the graphics are very detailed, they are displayed in a isometric viewpoint using 2D sprites instead of 3D models, meaning the game can be played on computers with relatively low specifications. The game has a few display options that can be tweaked to either improve the performance of the game or just make it more suited to your playing style.
Resolution
-
The resolution in Stronghold Crusader can be toggled between two settings, 800 by 600 and 1024 by 768. The higher resolution will give you smoother-looking graphics but at a slight performance hit. The lower resolution will result in slightly lower-quality graphics but will be faster depending on your system specifications. All modern monitors will be able to display both these resolutions, but if you have an older monitor consult with your manual whether it is compatible.
Scroll Speed
-
The scroll speed in Stronghold Crusader can be toggled between Slow, Normal and Fast modes. The "fast" mode will allow you to scroll around the map a lot faster but can make precision selecting of units harder while the "Slow" scroll speed gives you better control at the cost of not being able to scroll around the map rapidly. This setting has no direct impact on the performance of the game and is down to personal preferences.
Cursor Type
-
Below the "Scroll Speed" option you will see two different cursor types, a normal mouse cursor and a sword. Selecting either of these and clicking on the "Apply" button found at the bottom of the pages will change your mouse cursor into the chosen cursor. This has no impact on the performance of the game and is purely for your own enjoyment of the game.
