The 1993 Mustang Cobra marked the launch of Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT). The car went on sale in February 1993 and, with only 5,100 produced, it has become something of a collectible. The car sold at a retail price of $18,505, and, like all its Mustang predecessors, it was designed to give drivers a high-performance car at a reasonable price.
Engine and Drivetrain

The 1993 Cobra came equipped with a 235 horsepower, 5.0 litre V8 engine. The engine puts out 280 foot-lbs. of torque at 4,000 revolutions per minute (rpm). All the power is managed with a Borg Warner five-speed manual transmission. With this drivetrain, the Mustang Cobra can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds, and it runs a quarter mile in 14.5 seconds.
Suspension and Brakes

Though the 1993 Mustang Cobra did not come with antilock brakes or traction control, it was fitted with vented disc brakes. The rear brakes are 10.07 inches and the front brakes are a slightly larger 10.84 inches. The Cobra has a solid rear axle with linear rate coil springs and a 21 mm antiroll bar. A 28 mm antiroll bar and progressive rate coil springs are also found in the front of the car.
Wheels, Tires and Other Features

The car came stock with 17-inch, seven-spoke aluminum wheels and Goodyear Gatorback tires. It is 179.6 inches long, 69.1 inches wide and 52.1 inches tall. It is a relatively heavy car at 3,255 lbs. and has a wheelbase of 100.5 inches.
