When Can I Plant Lavender in South Georgia?

Lavender is a shrubby perennial grown for its bright blue blooms and heavy fragrance. Growing lavender in South Georgia's hot, humid climate can be a challenge, but careful attention at planting can guarantee success.

Planting Time

• Plant lavender and other perennial herbs in spring, no earlier than a week or so after the last frost. In South Georgia, USDA Zones 8 and 9, this will be about March 1 through April 1. You can plant throughout the spring, until hot summer weather arrives--about June 1.
