Why Does My Webcast Freeze?

Webcasts are a way for users to enjoy content specifically created for the internet. In today's educational environment, webcasts are also used for the purpose of providing online lectures. It's important to make sure that webcasts can be viewed but problems sometimes arise when attempting to watch a webcast.
  • Conflict

    • Webcast freezing can be caused by a hardware or software conflict. You can usually shut down all programs -- other than the program being used to view the webcast -- to resolve these issues.

    Drivers

    • Outdated video drivers can also prevent a webcast from being viewed. Video cards are constantly being updated and improved through new drivers. Most video driver updates can be found at the video card manufacturer's website.

    Router

    • Webcasts stream over the Internet, so resetting the router can sometimes resolve problems. Many routers have a reset button that is located in the back of the unit. If there is no reset button, turn the router off for two minutes and then turn it on to reset it.

    Reboot

    • When a webcast continues to freeze, rebooting the computer might resolve the problem. Turn the computer off for thirty seconds and then turn it on.
