10 Year Reunion Activities

  • Candy Icebreaker

    • Purchase several bags of Skittles or M&Ms and pour them into a large bowl. Have all guests sit in a circle and hand one person the bowl of candy. Tell that person to take out as much candy as he wants and pass the bowl to the next person. Keep going until everyone has had a chance to get candy from the bowl. Tell the guests not to eat the candy. For each piece of candy they took out of the bowl, they have to share one thing about their life. Guests can share details such as: I am married, I have three kids, or I have a dog. Play this game to break the ice and get everyone involved in the reunion. This is a game best played in small groups so if you're playing this at a large reunion, simply have one bowl of candy at each table. If playing with a large group, switch up the players in between each activity so everyone gets a chance to mingle with everyone. Guests can eat their candy after their turn is up.

    Tell a Story

    • Have all guests sit in a circle or simply remain at the table. Go around the circle and let everyone introduce themselves. Randomly pick one person to go first. That person must look around the circle and pick one person to share a memory of him. It's also acceptable if a player wants to share a story that features more than one person in the circle. Stories should be funny, memorable and charming. Let each person have a chance to tell a memorable story about a family member or classmate. For larger groups, split into smaller circles and allow people to switch tables or circles throughout the evening so as many people as possible are able to become reintroduced.

For a class reunion, let one person speak at a time and mimic a teacher. Let the classmates guess what teacher they are mimicking. The first person to guess the correct teacher wins a prize.

    Memorable Photos

    • Take lots of candid pictures at the reunion. For family reunions, make it a priority to gather four and five generations together and photograph them. For class reunions, get pictures of high school sweethearts and the couples that are still together. Take as many pictures as possible and email or burn a CD for all attendees to have a copy of each picture. Some classes also have their own web sites for people to post their pictures.

Another fun photo activity, is to gather up several old photos from high school and put them out. Make a large board with all the photos on it. Let the classmates guess who each picture is.

    Dance and Dinner

    • Provide dinner and a place to dance for the reunion guests. If your budget allows, hire a DJ and have a dance floor put down for your guests. Ask the DJ to play music popular 10 years ago. Talk with local restaurants about catering prices and have every class member, or family, send in a certain amount of money to cover the costs. Guests can enjoy drinks and a hot meal while mingling. After dessert is served, ask the DJ to crank up the music and get guests on the dance floor for a night of excitement.

For a class reunion, have everyone vote throughout the night on the prom king and queen. Announce the winners before the end of the evening.
