1995 Bayou 300 Specs

  • Power

    • A single-overhead-cam, four-stroke engine with an air-cooling system is at the heart of the Bayou 300. The engine's displacement is 290 cc, the compression ratio 8.6:1, and it has a 3-inch-by-2.5-inch bore and stroke. It utilizes a wet sump lubrication system, which means it has a reservoir for oil built into it. The 329-watt alternator runs at a rate of 9,000 revolutions per minute. Delivering the fuel from a 2.4-gallon tank is a Keihin CVK32 carburetor. Ensuring this power makes its way to the shaft rear wheel drive is a five-speed transmission system with reverse and automatic clutch. Kicking this ensemble into action is an electric starting system with recoil backup and electronic transistorized ignition.

    Dimensions

    • A 47.6-inch wheelbase provides the foundation for a 75.2-inch-long and 45.7-inch-wide double-cradle steel frame. The frame clears the ground by 7.7 inches in the chassis center and 6.1 inches at the rear axle, with a seat height of 29.5 inches. When the vehicle is emptied of all its fluids, such as gas and oil, it weighs 498 pounds. It also has a front rack capacity of 70 pounds, can handle 140 pounds on the rear rack and can tow 700 pounds.

    Brakes and Suspension

    • Dual hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power from the front of the Bayou 300, with double-sealed drums helping out from the back. Absorbing those bumps and jumps is the job of a dual A-arm suspension system that allows for 4.9 inches of travel. The rear semi-independent system offers the 4.7-inch travel through dual shocks with five-way preload.
