The Mercedes S-Class line of full-size luxury sedans officially began production in the early 1970s. The S-Class serves as the largest sedan offered by the automaker, while also incorporating the most advanced technology the company has to offer. The W202-bodied S-Class had a production run lasting from the 2000 to 2006 model year. The 5.0L-V-8-engined variant of this vehicle was named the S500.
