Power
-
Audi's 2.0 TDI produces a peak of 140 horsepower at 4,200 revolutions per minute, and an impressive peak of 236 pound-feet of torque at 1,750 to 2,500 revolutions per minute. The turbocharged diesel technology in the 2.0 TDI launches the 2011 Audi A3 from zero to 60 miles per hour in 8.9 seconds and propels the A3 to a top speed of 130 miles per hour.
Fuel Efficiency
-
The differentiating factor of the 2.0 TDI is its ability to maximize performance while retaining fuel efficiency. The 2.0 TDI boasts an EPA-estimated 30 miles per gallon in the city and 42 miles per gallon on the highway. Audi claims that vehicles with TDI-powered engines consume 40 percent less fuel than the traditional gasoline engines driven in North America.
Emissions
-
Diesel technology has traditionally been viewed as dirty, polluting and loud, but Audi has acted to transform this perception and convey the environmental benefits of clean diesel. According to Audi, the 2.0 TDI produces 30 percent fewer harmful carbon dioxide emissions than average gasoline engines in North America and meets or exceeds the emissions requirements of all 50 states in the United States.
