A fun and educational display for the kids at Awana Yellow Dog Productions/Digital Vision/Getty Images
Awana has been a ministry leader for 60 years, aiming to lead children all over the world to love and serve Christ. Over 12,000 churches in the United States alone participate in the ministry's programs geared at kids ages 2 to 18. There are many fun bulletin board ideas for leaders in Awana programs looking to keep the kids entertained and educated on a weekly basis.
Scripture Decorations
-
Each week pick a quote from the Bible and write it on the bulletin board. Surround the scripture with colorful decorations or designs that apply to it. When meeting with the kids, refer to the quote and explain how it applies to their everyday lives.
Holiday Photos
-
The children can take part in sharing their holiday memories by participating in decorating the bulletin board with their pictures from past holidays. For holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, encourage the children to bring in a holiday photo that they have taken with their friends or family or pictures showing the family dinner table at Thanksgiving. The kids can also bring in their holiday vacation photos and post them on the board.
Make Time for God Display
-
One of the most important things to remind the children of Awana about is how important it is to make time to spend with God. Place a colorful display with the words "Always Make Time for God" or simply, "Make Time for God" with a couple ideas of how to do so, such as prayer, or Christian meditation, placed directly under the passage.
Sports Displays
-
Attract the kids to the principles of Christ by decorating the bulletin board with sports themes at the start of each season. For example, if baseball season has started, you can design the board in a baseball theme with baseballs and bats with a green background. The board can have a main theme with a slogan such as "Be a Homerun Hitter, Lead a Christian Life;" and the baseballs can have slogans written in them such as "Pray Each Day" or "Treat Others Well."
