CCTV Security Training

Closed circuit television (CCTV) security training involves instruction in the installation, maintenance, monitoring and repair of CCTV systems. Some programs provide preparatory training for the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level I video security system (VSS) certification.

Scope

• CCTV training concerns training in the maintenance and installation of monitors, lighting, lenses, cameras and recorders, as well as operational functions, such as panning, tilting and focusing. Additional training includes the legal implications of CCTV systems and assessment of property for placement of CCTV systems.

Duration

• Program length depends on the training provider and the program's comprehensiveness. For example, the CCTV security training program from VIT lasts 16 hours, whereas the 14-course CCTV training program from Security CEU lasts 20 hours.
