Christian Thanksgiving Crafts for Older Children

    • Developing Christian Thanksgiving crafts for older children means thinking past paper plate turkeys and coloring pages. Teen craft ideas include more advanced techniques and processes to create a cherished keepsake. Christian teen projects allows children to show off their talents and express what Thanksgiving means to them. There are crafts for older children that you can choose that get the whole family involved.

    Thanksgiving Poster

    • A Thanksgiving teen craft that allows your child to count her blessings and share them with others is a Thanksgiving poster. Provide old magazines or photographs, along with plenty of paints and craft findings, so your child can create a mural of blessings. Suggest using Bible verses as captions for some of the pictures or even as the main message of the poster.

    Thanksgiving Cornucopia

    • Have older children make a cornucopia filled with blessings. cornucopia image by Liz Van Steenburgh from Fotolia.com

The cornucopia often represents Thanksgiving and fall festivals. Provide brown wrapping paper, like the paper used to cover mailing boxes, and teach your child how to twist the paper into a cornucopia. It is a simple matter of making a giant cone out of the paper and rolling up the larger end of the cone and twisting the smaller end, then bending it upwards. Use white paper, if necessary, and paint the finished cornucopia. Your child can fill the cornucopia with fruits and nuts and index cards printed with Bible verses reflecting thankfulness, such as 2 Corinthians 9:15 or 1 Timothy 2:1. You can print out Exodus 23:16 as a banner and string it across the cornucopia.

    Recipe Book

    • A great teen craft project is a Thanksgiving recipe book. Many verses in the Bible reference food, such as milk and honey, olives, fish, different grains and herbs. Gather recipes from family members and friends that use some of these ingredients. Let the kids print the recipes onto decorated paper, listing the corresponding Bible verse. Each recipe book should include an appetizer, an entree, a side dish and a dessert. Allow the kids to add more recipes, if they choose. Suggest the children add different hints and tips throughout the book to make it more personal.
