Consumer Carpet-Cleaning Machines

    • Consumer carpet-cleaning machines are those intended for residential use. Regularly cleaning your carpet helps limit the amount of dirt, debris and contaminates that are in it. Keeping the carpet clean is especially important if you have young children that crawl on it. Choose a carpet-cleaning machine based on your needs, whether that is spot cleaning or deep-cleaning carpets upstairs and down. You can purchase these machines or rent them from hardware or home-improvement stores.

    Bissell Little Green

    • The Bissell Little Green is the company's small, residential carpet cleaner intended for use on small rugs and for spot cleaning carpets. At 13 pounds, the machine is lightweight and portable, which makes it easier to carry up and down stairs to clean carpets throughout your home or in your car. The machine has an easy-to-fill water tank and a cleaning solution tank. The carpet-cleaning machine also includes several brushes that you can use, depending on the carpet you are cleaning.

    Hoover SteamVac

    • The Hoover's SteamVac is a consumer carpet-cleaning machine that is strong enough to clean very heavy stains on thick shag carpets and rugs. At 30 pounds, the machine is sturdier and heavier than the Bissell Little Green and is less portable. It may be difficult to carry it up and down stairs for some consumers. The machine has a 20-foot chord, which enables you to clean even very large rooms. The machine is also capable of cleaning hard floors, such as tile, hardwood or vinyl.

    Bissell ProHeat

    • The Bissell ProHeat is the company's deep-cleaning machine that is capable of cleaning carpets and rugs, as well as hardwood or tiled floors. The deep-cleaning machine uses high heat and steam to loosen dirt in the carpet before vacuuming the dirty water out of it. At 25 pounds, the machine is heavy enough that some consumers may be unable to carry it up stairs.
