DIY Window Cleaners With Alcohol

Finding the right window-cleaning solution is often a difficult task, as many of the glass- and window-cleaning products on the market end up leaving behind a hazy residue on your windows when the cleaning solution dries. Instead of using a store-bought product, make your own window cleaner using rubbing alcohol as a base ingredient. This alcohol can be found with first-aid products at any grocery store or pharmacy, and it successfully cleans windows without leaving residue behind.

Pour 1 qt. water into a spray bottle with 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol. The rubbing alcohol not only works as a cleanser, but also defrosts windows and prevents ice buildup during cold winter months.

Add about 5 drops of dish soap for heavily soiled windows; this will remove pollen and similar buildup with ease.

    • 3

Twist the lid on the bottle and shake gently to mix ingredients.

    • 4

Spray a light mist of the alcohol spray over the entire window.

Wipe down the window with a handful of newspaper or a lint-free cloth, using large, circular wiping motions. Repeat this process on the interior and exterior of all your windows.
