Eco Clothing Certification

Environmentally friendly fashion is in demand as consumers seek to support companies that share their concern for the environment. Eco-conscience clothing can be certified as fair trade and/or organic to add credibility to the company's claims.
  • Fair Trade Product Certification

    • Products certified as fair trade through the Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International abide by principles that emphasize fairness and sustainability in production practices and proper treatment of workers. Certification as a manufacturer requires a significant financial investment and lengthy audit process to ensure all standards are being met.

    Fair Trade Organizational Evaluation

    • Companies that source fair trade clothing for resale can be certified by the World Fair Trade Organization and Fair Trade Federation. The certification process is rigorous, and requires completion of an application and financial statements for review with a screening coordinator appointed by the Fair Trade Federation.

    Organic Certification

    • Organic farms that produce materials for eco clothing must undergo a certification process compliant with the USDA National Organic Program rules and regulations. A certified USDA Organic garment contains no less than 95 percent organic material that was created without the use of synthetic pesticides or conventional fertilizers.
