HardiPlank Siding Styles

    • James Hardie is a manufacturer of fiber-cement building products, including HardiePlank lap siding, which is used in residential homes. HardiePlank siding is available in a variety of textures and colors, in one of two material configurations based on the location and climate of the home. Each of the HardiePlank styles comes in 5/16-inch thick, 12-foot long planks. Width and exposure--the amount of siding visible on each plank when installed--vary by style.

    Custom Colonial Roughsawn

    • HardiePlank Custom Colonial Roughsawn siding is designed with the look of hand-sawn wooden boards. Each board is eight inches wide, with a 6.75-inch exposure.

    Custom Colonial Smooth

    • Custom Colonial Smooth boards are also eight inches wide with a 6.75-inch exposure. This siding style is meant to resemble the look of hand-sanded wood.

    Beaded Cedarmill

    • HardiePlank Beaded Cedarmill has a traditional wood grain appearance. Each board measures 8.25 inches wide, with a 7-inch exposure.

    Select Cedarmill

    • The Select Cedarmill finish most closely resembles traditional clapboard wood siding. Planks are available in a 5.25-inch width with a 4-inch exposure, 6.25 inches wide with a 5-inch exposure, 7.25 inches wide with a 6-inch exposure or 8.25 inches wide with a 7-inch exposure.

    Smooth

    • HardiePlank Smooth finish boards resemble finely sanded wood. As with the Select Cedarmill style, planks are available in a 5.25-inch width with a 4-inch exposure, 6.25 inches wide with a 5-inch exposure, 7.25 inches wide with a 6-inch exposure or 8.25 inches wide with a 7-inch exposure.

    Beaded Smooth

    • HardiePlank Beaded Smooth boards measure 8.25 inches wide, with a 7-inch exposure. The "beaded" finish is meant to add an understated texture to the wood-grain look of the siding.
