How to Access Codes for a 1995 Cadillac DeVille

You can access the codes from your 1995 Cadillac DeVille using an OBD-I code scanner. This small, computerized tool can be purchased from any auto parts retailer. Trouble codes are alphanumeric codes that are sent from sensors positioned throughout the vehicle to the OBD-I computer when they sense a malfunction. These sensors also keep track of the routine maintenance needs of the Cadillac. OBD-I stands for On-Board Diagnostic computer, first generation. Once you access these codes, you can look them up in the code scanner's booklet to find out exactly what they mean.
