How to Adjust the Front Seat in a Taurus

Ford Taurus automobiles are equipped with manual or power-operated front seats. In both cases, the seats include vertically adjustable head restraints designed to limit whiplash in an accident. The seats can be adjusted for comfort and safety. Power operated seats can be adjusted for height, too.

Adjust the head restraints for height. They should be located behind your head, not your neck. Push the button where the metal bars and seat back join to raise or lower the head restraint. Allow the bars to click into place.

Move the seat forward or backwards so your feet comfortably reach the pedals. Pull on the bar at the front of the seat. Move the seat backwards by pushing on the floor with your feet. Move the seat up by shifting your weight forward. With a power seat, the control is located on the outside edge of the seat. Push the control backwards, forwards or up and down to move the seat.

Pull the lever on the outside edge of the seat to adjust the seatback. For safety reasons the seatbacks should be upright.

Turn the lumbar support knob, if you have one, on the front of the seat cushion.
