How to Attach a Safety Harness to a Tree Stand

It is important to wear a safety harness when hunting from a tree stand. A much anticipated hunting trip can be ruined by a fall from a tree. A safety harness ensures that the experience is safe and it may also save a life. The safety rope hangs from above the tree stand and goes all the way down to the ground. The rope holds the hunter upright while distributing the weight evenly. This makes a climb back up into the tree stand easier in the event of a fall.   Pull the safety rope around the tree. Pull the adjustable hitched end through the loop of the safety rope and cinch it tight.

  Open the hitch and insert the harness safety clip through the loop.

  Screw the locking mechanism down to secure the harness safety clip.

  Slide the hitch up the safety rope to adjust it to a comfortable position.

  Tie a knot in the safety rope approximately 1 foot under the hitch for added security in case of a fall.
