How to Back Up Large Amounts of Data

Backing up important data on your computer is important, but it can be difficult if you have large amounts of it. The good news is that there are methods of backing up large amounts of data that ensure all data is completely backed up. It may take a little time to complete the entire backup but you can do it on your own, without the help of a service technician.

Connect your external hard drive to your computer via the included USB cable. Make sure that it is a hard drive with enough space to accommodate your backup needs, such as one terabyte or more.

Open the backup program from your computer's desktop and go into "Settings." Select either "Drive Image Engine," "File Replication Engine" or "Rsync," depending on your particular backup program. These are settings which will allow the backup to take place in less time due to the fact that they will back up only the difference in data.

Select the data you wish to back up and select "Backup." Depending on the amount of data you are backing up you will still have to wait. However, as long as you are using one of the "Intelligent Differential" settings in your backup program, that time will be drastically reduced.
